Animal Control Services

The Municipality of Bayham provides Animal Control Services in accordance with By-law No. 2015-113.  The Municipality regulates Prohibited Animals in accordance with By-law No. 2015-070.

For Animal Cruelty & Welfare concerns please contact 833-926-4625  Effective January 1, 2020, the Provincial Animal Welfare Services (PAWS) Act came into force, creating the first fully provincial government-based animal welfare enforcement system in Canada. Ontario now has the strongest penalties in Canada for people who violate animal welfare laws.  The province has established a toll-free number, 1-833-9-ANIMAL (264625) for people to report concerns about animal distress or abuse. This call centre is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. 

NEW - DOG TAG PROGRAM NO LONGER IN EFFECT

Effective January 1, 2023, Residents are no longer required to purchase a dog tag from the Municipality of Bayham.

The requirement of pet owners to identify their dog will now be their responsibility. Each owner is to obtain their own tag or microchip, with owner contact information. The identification tag must include a phone number for the owner of the dog. All other requirements under By-Law 2015-113 being the Animal Control By-law shall remain unchanged.
