It is said that previous to 1850 the village of Richmond, being on the west side of Otter Creek, flooding sometimes made the cemetery on the east side inaccessible. In 1850 Jeremia Moore donated a parcel of land on the west side of the village for a cemetery.  The cemetery was expanded on the west side by 46.5 feet in 1925. This land was bought from William Green.  The last expansion was 73 feet added across the north end. Violet Stanat donated this land from the Stanat farm in 1991.
