Public Advisory Notice: Wastewater Servicing Capacity Constraints

The Municipality of Bayham is advising property owners, applicants, developers, consultants, and other interested parties of current wastewater servicing capacity constraints affecting development in areas serviced by municipal wastewater infrastructure. See notice for details.

The Municipality has identified limitations in available wastewater treatment capacity. As a result, staff are undertaking a review of existing servicing capacity, projected growth, infrastructure requirements, and potential solutions necessary to support future development.

Applications that may be affected include:

  • Official Plan Amendments
  • Zoning By-law Amendments
  • Draft Plans of Subdivision or Condominium
  • Consents resulting in lot creation
  • Site Plan Control Applications
  • Building Permit Applications
  • Other development proposals generating additional wastewater flows

Depending on the nature and scale of a proposal, the Municipality may determine that sufficient servicing capacity is not available to support additional development at this time.

Council is currently considering planning measures to address servicing limitations while further study and infrastructure planning are completed. These measures may include the adoption of an Interim Control By-law under Section 38 of the Planning Act, which — if adopted — would temporarily restrict certain development applications within the Municipality.
