Marine Museum & Historic Lighthouse

THE MARINE MUSEUM IS NOW OPEN FOR THE SEASON!

We look forward to you visiting us this summer!

The Port Burwell Marine Museum is located at 20 Pitt Street and the Historic 1840 Lighthouse is located across the street at 17 Robinson Street, Port Burwell. Unfortunately due to structural concerns, the Historic Lighthouse is not currently open to visitors at this time.  Engineered stabilization practices are in place.

The Marine Museum is open daily Victoria Day Weekend through to Labour Day from 10:00 am - 5:30 pm, with interesting displays and activities for all ages. The seasonal Museum phone number is 519-874-4807.  Off-season information may be obtained by calling the Municipal Office 519-866-5521.

Visit your local museum to see the NEW annual exhibits. This year's exhibit is on photography "Picturing Port Burwell: 150 Years of Photography".

2026 Admission Prices (Cash only):

Children 12 & Under Free;

Adults (13+) $3.00 per person;

Family $8.00 per family (up to four 13+); 

Children's Educational Program $4.00 per student; 

Groups of 10 or more, $2.00 per person. Please call ahead to the Museum 519-874-4807 (10:00am – 5:30pm) to book a time and for group pricing.

The Marine Museum will be participating during the Canada Day Celebrations with a themed craft and special guest.

They will also be at Beachfest Civic Day weekend festivities with a different craft for kids each day.

You can find us along the sidewalk near the museum parking lot for each event. Watch for balloons!

The Port Burwell Marine Museum offers tours and educational programs designed to give a greater understanding of life along Lake Erie, as well as the role played by the Lighthouse and the people of the village and surrounding area.

Light and Sound on Lake Erie – learn about the lighthouse, lenses, and how they work, as well as foghorns and their importance to marine navigation.

The Life of a Lifeboat – Learn about marine safety from our lifeboat as it tells a story of disaster and rescue.

The Port Burwell Lighthouse is currently closed to the public due to stabilization concerns. Stabilization measures are in place while next steps are being determined. 

Donations are being accepted through the Municipal Office towards restoration efforts for the Lighthouse.
